About AWHONN

Millions of babies born in the U.S. have benefited from the knowledge and expertise of AWHONN nurses. The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) represents 350,000 nurses in the U.S. who all share the same goal: to promote the health of women and newborns.

AWHONN members are registered nurses, nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, researchers, and clinical nurse specialists who work in hospitals, physicians’ offices, universities and community clinics throughout the United States.

Our mission is to improve and promote the health of women and newborns and to strengthen the nursing profession through the delivery of superior advocacy, research, education and other professional and clinical resources to nurses and other health care professionals.

AWHONN advances health care and the nursing profession by empowering its members with the education resources, legislative programs, research and support they need to provide the highest level of patient care to moms and four million babies born each year.

Every nurse has a story and every parent has had a nurse who has touched and impacted their lives. We thank you for your interest in our stories and your commitment to the health of women and babies.
